Amazonite

A cluster of amazonite: polished blue-green pieces veined and marbled with white, opaque against near-black.

Blue-green feldspar veined with white. The one that takes the heat out of things.

The aesthetic

Amazonite is a green to blue-green microcline feldspar, its colour owed to traces of lead, and it is usually crossed by a white grid of intergrown albite that gives the stone its distinctive marbled look. It cleaves cleanly in two directions, which shows as flat reflective faces on a broken piece and makes it a stone that has to be worked carefully.

The dynamic

Amazonite is associated with calm, balance and plain speaking, and is often described as a stone for cooling a situation down enough to be honest in it.

Some variations
