Rose pink banded with white. The tender one, and quietly a collector's stone.
The aesthetic
Rhodochrosite is a manganese carbonate in rose to raspberry pink, most often seen as stalactitic material sliced across to reveal concentric pink and white bands like growth rings. Transparent red crystals do occur and are prized well out of proportion to their durability, since the mineral is soft and cleaves easily. Argentina and Colorado produce the best-known material.
The dynamic
Rhodochrosite is associated with emotional healing and self-compassion, and is commonly described as a stone for old hurts rather than present ones.
