The aesthetic
Azurite is a deep, almost electric blue copper carbonate, forming as small sharp crystals or as soft rounded crusts, and it is chemically unstable over long periods: given water and time it alters to malachite, which is why so many specimens are part blue and part green. Ground for pigment it gave medieval painters their blue, and many of those paintings have quietly gone green since.
The dynamic
Azurite is associated with insight, inner sight and mental clarity, and is often paired with malachite for the way the two sit together in one stone.
