Grey until it catches the light, then peacock blue. The stone for turning points.
The aesthetic
Labradorite is a plain storm-grey feldspar until it is turned to the right angle, at which point internal layers split the light into sheets of peacock blue, gold, green and occasionally violet. That flash is called labradorescence and it only appears within a narrow range of viewing angles, so the stone seems to switch on and off as it moves. Material showing the full spectrum is sold as spectrolite.
The dynamic
Labradorite is strongly associated with transformation and intuition, and is described as a stone for periods of change, when something is shifting but has not yet resolved.
Some variations
