The Lore

Mandala

A richly patterned mandala illustration worked in oxblood, gold and cream, radiating outward in concentric geometric rings.

Sanskrit for circle — the cosmos, spiritual order, and the journey toward balance.

Origins & tradition

The word mandala comes from Sanskrit and means “circle.” Mandalas have deep roots in Hindu and Buddhist traditions, where intricate geometric designs can represent the cosmos, spiritual order, balance, and the journey toward enlightenment.

Modern meaning

Today, mandalas are often used as symbols of balance, harmony, wholeness, mindfulness, and interconnectedness. Creating or contemplating a mandala can also be a form of meditation and self-reflection.

These meanings find their way into the dreamcatchers, mandalas and amigurumi I make. See what I offer, or read the rest of the lore.
