Dreamcatcher

An ornate dreamcatcher illustration: a woven web inside a beaded ring, hung with crescent moons, feathers and deep-red tassels.

Protection, peaceful sleep, and the filtering of what you don't want to carry into the morning.

Origins & tradition

The dreamcatcher originates with the Ojibwe (Anishinaabe) people of North America. Traditionally crafted from a circular frame with a woven web, dreamcatchers were associated with protecting sleepers — especially children — from harmful dreams.

Modern meaning

Today, dreamcatchers are widely recognized as symbols of protection, peaceful sleep, positive energy, and the filtering of negativity. Their imagery has also become associated with dreams, hopes, and the pursuit of one's aspirations.

These meanings find their way into the dreamcatchers, mandalas and amigurumi I make. See what I offer, or read the rest of the lore.
