Citrine

A heaped arrangement of citrine: golden amber points, a geode section and polished tumbled stones in honey and warm orange.

Golden quartz, mostly heat-treated amethyst. Abundance and warm-weather energy.

The aesthetic

Citrine is quartz in yellow to warm amber, coloured by iron. Genuinely natural citrine is uncommon and tends toward a pale smoky lemon; most of what is sold is amethyst that has been heated until it turns golden, which gives the deep orange-brown tone and often a whitish base. Both are real quartz, and the treated material is usually easy to spot by that colour break.

The dynamic

Citrine is the stone most often connected with abundance and prosperity, and with confidence, creativity and warmth. It is the one people keep in a till or a purse.
